Meet the Maravillas family!
Aida lives with her husband and youngest daughters in the Chicagoland area. Her other children are not too far from home and make time for pizza nights, family game nights, and hanging out whenever they can.
Hello, I am Aida.
I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, helper, listener, and a high school social worker. On any given day I am juggling all of these roles, even though each one is purposefully woven into the fabric of my being, along with many others.
I help parents who are overwhelmed with the stress and demands of life by offering perspective, hope, and encouragement for the challenges that we face along the way.
I will help you navigate your way through the stress of parenting, coming from a place of experience as a mother, friend, and licensed clinical social worker.
Parenting can be stressful, especially if you find yourself having to help your child get through school while managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, bullying, and so many other stressors that children face today.
I found myself in a helping profession through a series of life circumstances that were out of my control. I came from a place where hope was hard to find, a promising future was a dream in progress, and just getting by became an unsettling familiar place.
Through God's grace, my husband and I have been married for over 20 years. I have two daughters in their early 20's, a daughter who is nine, a son-in-law and a grandson who is in his toddler years.
Family is something that I cherish deeply but I had to learn how to cherish this gift in a daily practical expression. The high school years were some of our most stressful as we navigated maintaining academic expectations, schedules between activities, sports, being involved at church, military enlistment, college, juggling a new baby during this season, and helping our daughters transition into their young adult years.
I have learned so much during my seasons of parenting, as well as in my professional life and I need to share it with you.
My self-care includes finding quiet moments to just be, writing, working out, running, hiking, and visiting with friends.
My passions include building authentic relationships, talking about how to get through life stress, how to deal with depression, anxiety, self-care, self-awareness, general parenting topics, parenting teens, and parenting teen parents.
I have worked as a high school social worker for 15 years.
I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, and then returned to complete my Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from the Jane Addams College of Social Work. I completed a Master’s in Educational Leadership through Concordia University. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
